DAVID SALIM – B Comm. (Finance), LLB, GDLP

David joined the Hetherington team in April 2010 and has been Company Principal of Hetherington Sydney since April 2016.
David graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major), and Bachelor of Laws in 2008. David also studied Environmental Law as an optional elective and Native Title Law as a part of his Bachelor of Laws. David then went on to complete his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice in 2009 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in December 2009.
Prior to joining Hetherington, David worked in a general practice private law firm as a Legal Clerk and Graduate Solicitor, dealing with a wide variety of matters and clientele. David also worked in business management and NSW Parliament.
During David's time at Hetherington, David has worked on a variety of matters for small, medium and large exploration and mining companies within Australia and the Pacific Region, having worked in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Northern Territory, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
David has extensive experience in the management and administration of exploration and mining titles, including applications and renewals. David also has comprehensive knowledge of Native Title, Right to Negotiate processes, land access, and landholder arbitration.
David has also worked on environmental planning and development approvals, government liaison and relations, and the monitoring and acquisition of new ground for exploration and mining.
David specialises in providing tenement management reports, independent tenement reports, due diligence reports, land overlay reports, reviews and audits that are used in Australia Stock Exchange (ASX) prospectus report public listings, and by Australia's leading law firms for property, exploration and mining company legal diligence.
David’s insight is sought after by stakeholders across the industry leading to several invitations as a presenter at Mining and Exploration forums and conferences held in New South Wales. Such invitations include the 2017 New South Wales Minerals Council Associate Member and Exploration Forum where David appeared as a panel speaker, and the subsequent forum held in 2018, where he returned as a presenter. In 2018, David also appeared as a presenter on behalf of NSW at the Association of Mining and Exploration Committees (AMEC) National Convention. David has also given presentations on New South Wales to Chinese Government Delegation.
Some of David's mining and resources related professional associations include the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) New South Wales Advisory Committee, and the New South Wales Department of Industry, Australian Mining Petroleum Lawyers Association (AMPLA) Member, Division of Resources and Energy, Minerals Industry Liaison Committee (MILC) and Review and Alignment Committee. In 2018, David was also accepted as a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
